Ghosting
Let’s talk about the thing no one likes to admit:
You got ghosted.
Getting ghosted hurts.
You send a message you’re proud of.
You personalize it. You lead with good intent.
And then… nothing.
No reply. No reaction. Just air.
And suddenly your brain spins:
“Was I annoying?”
“Did I sound desperate?”
“Should I just stop doing outreach altogether?”
I’ve had those moments too.
But here’s what I want to tell you:
Ghosting isn’t rejection.
It’s usually just bad timing, unclear value, or poor positioning.
It feels personal, but it’s not.
See, your brain is wired to perceive silence as a threat.
Thousands of years ago, being excluded from the group could be dangerous.
So even today, when a stranger doesn’t reply to a LinkedIn message, it triggers that same feeling.
But that’s biology, not reality.
The best way to overcome that fear? Lead with real value.
When your outreach actually helps someone…
When it solves a problem, sparks curiosity, or shows genuine insight…
You shift from “bothering” to “serving.”
And you start to feel good about sending messages again.
Because you know they’re useful, whether the person replies or not.
This is why I’m so obsessed with value offers, and delivering ACTUAL value in the first message you send.
It sets you up for the win because now you can:
Show up with confidence
Avoid sounding salesy
Give people a reason to care
Actually enjoy doing outreach
GENERATE WAY MORE MEETINGS
When you know your message helps, silence doesn’t sting as much.
Because you’re not just asking for attention, you’re earning it.
